It’s a healthier home.  It has higher air quality from a ventilation system that is designed and performance tested to provide more fresh air to the home and more effectively exhaust of potentially damaging humidity and particulates like dust and pet dander.  Improved air filtering is more effective at removing particulates as well.  Furthermore, less volatile finishes were used in the home’s construction and finally, a pre-occupancy flush was performed after all finishes were complete for 48 hours to remove pollutants and offgassing from construction. 

It’s designed to have lower water bills.  It has highly efficient fixtures and equipment on the inside and drought tolerant landscape on the outside lowers the amount of water used.

It’s been performance tested.  The tightness of the building skin and the HVAC ductwork have both been tested to exacting performance levels.  Also tested were bath and kitchen exhaust fans and the Energy Recovery Ventilator to ensure they work.  Testing ensures the building is getting the right amount of fresh air and exhausting pollutants so that the building delivers high air quality.

It’s a more durable home that’s easier to maintain. Many design and materials selection choices were made to increase the homes durability from the obvious (choosing to not paint the existing brick) to the minute electing to place the windows in a bed of caulk in addition to caulking after the window is set) to make the home more durable.  It even comes with a home owner’s manual to guide and track your maintenance…so you don’t forget to do what you need to do to get the longest life out of your home!

Its location supports a sustainable lifestyle.  Walkable to metro and busses, shopping on Upshur St, Yes! Organic market, and green spaces Grant Circle, and Petworth Rec…you could be car free!  But if you can’t…there is also a dedicated line for electric vehicle charging in the garage.
